The Inside Guide of What to See and Do in Tallinn the Fabulous and Exciting Capital of Estonia

Tallinn is the surprising delight that is the capital of Estonia and lies on the southern coast of the Gulf of Finland by the Baltic Sea just 43 miles south of Helsinki. Toompea is the historical heart of the city and is so picturesque with it’s cobbled streets filled with medieval houses and alleyways. The town is very well preserved and was put on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1997.

Lower Tallinn spreads out from the foot of the hill and is still protected by the remnants of the city wall. The city is perfect to walk around with it’s well maintained green park. The city itself is Tallinn’s main attraction. The old city built in the 15-17th centuries and is small enough to explore on foot. I would suggest starting your walk from The Viru Gate. This area is known as the lower town or “All-Linn” and it is where the merchants and artisans of old Tallinn live. Viru is Estonia’s trendiest shopping street and where most tourists head to.
